ABOUT Geoff Hart
Favorite WOD: Anything body weight and gymnastics (burpees, pulls ups, hand stand
movements, and running)
Least Favorite: The ECHO bike and barbell cycling (overhead squats, snatches, push press,
and Tabatas)
How did you first get exposed to CF? As a kid, my family introduced me to a variety of sports,
including baseball, soccer, flag football, skiing and tennis. Almost every season I was playing
some type of organized activity, until college, when I started to go to the gym more on my own
to get stronger. I did my first WOD at another CF gym about a year before joining Kennett and
got destroyed by barbell movements. I then realized CF is way harder than just normal body
building programs. I’ve always played sports growing up and I enjoy living an active lifestyle, but
wanted to change my gym programs. A coworker told me she was going to KSCF and I thought
I was fitter than her so I naturally started going to KSCF. At KSCF, I realized the skill involved is
not taught in normal lifting programs, and since then I was hooked to improve my athletic
abilities.
Changes in body, health, fitness? I’ve definitely increased my aerobic capacity by lifting heavy
weights for longer sets and being able to push myself to complete exhaustion, where I’m lying
on the floor after hard WODs. My mobility in my hips have increased dramatically but I still need
to be diligent on stretching after class. I learned some cool new skills on the pull up bar and with
the barbell as well.
Changes to lifestyle or something unexpected? I’ve been able to handle stress more in my day-
to-day life, since I try to make the workouts the hardest thing I have to do that day. Everything
else I know I can handle as long as I make it through the workout. I’ve always been a
competitive person so the group work outs have helped me push myself further than I’ve ever
been previously. Shout out to my 4:15 squad (Matt, Lauren, Jared, Brian, Coach Rod and
sometimes Juan)
Favorite moments? Spending time with incredible people to push each other and beating Matt
and Jared in running work outs. Also, impressing Coach Rod with my squat depth and keeping it
light hearted and fun when you want to give up during a WOD.
Advice: Listen to your coaches, they are the best for helping you achieve your fitness goals and
know how to push you to be better but at a safe and rewarding speed. Additionally, be sure to
track your workout progress. I was notorious for never doing this because I was lazy but after a
few people berated me, I now track my work outs to get better. Make sure you work on mobility
if that is a weak point, mine will always be my shoulders and hips. Most importantly, have fun. If
you don't enjoy your time in the gym you won't stick with it. Yes, it should be challenging, but
making friends and meeting amazing people help you stay accountable throughout your fitness
journey.
Hobbies Interests: Hiking, tennis, skiing, traveling, golf, soccer, road biking, watching sports,
going to the beach, cooking, and solving rubric cubes
